We can fix any water issue for the best price in Texas.
Rotten-egg smell, orange stains, a metallic taste, or a bacteria result you don’t like. Call us or send the form and we’ll tell you which system fixes it and what it costs.
City water is treated before it reaches you. Well water isn’t, so whatever is in the ground ends up in your shower. These are the three problems we fix most.
Smelly water
Rotten-egg or sulfur smell
What it looks like at home
A rotten-egg smell when you run the tap or the shower
The smell is often stronger on the hot side
Black or dark gray stains on sinks, tubs and fixtures
Silverware and copper tarnish faster than they should
What causes it
The smell is hydrogen sulfide, a gas that dissolves into groundwater. It can come from the rock and soil around your well, or from sulfur-reducing bacteria living in the well or the plumbing. If only the hot water smells, the water heater can be part of the problem too, which is worth checking before anything is installed.
What fixes it
Our Dual Tank system for well water pairs a softening tank with a tank of Katalox Light media, which takes out hydrogen sulfide along with iron and manganese. The smell is removed at the point where water enters your home, so every tap is treated.
Orange, red or brown stains in toilets, sinks and showers
Laundry that comes out dingy or with rust-colored spots
A metallic taste in drinking water, coffee and tea
Water that comes out clear, then turns orange after it sits
What causes it
Iron dissolves out of the rock and soil as groundwater moves through it. While it's dissolved you can't see it. Once it meets air it turns into rust, which is why the stains show up after the water sits in the bowl or the tub. Manganese often travels with it and leaves darker, brown-black stains.
What fixes it
The same Dual Tank well water system handles it. The Katalox Light tank pulls out iron and manganese, and the softening tank takes care of the hardness that most well water carries as well. Two ProValves, one per tank.
A lab test that comes back positive for coliform bacteria
Changes after heavy rain, flooding or work on the well
Water that turns cloudy or starts to taste different
What causes it
A private well is not treated by a city utility, so nothing kills bacteria before it reaches your tap. Bacteria can get in through a damaged well cap or casing, surface water after heavy rain, or nearby septic systems. The only way to know is a lab test. Test at least once a year, and again after flooding or any work on the well.
What fixes it
Our Whole-Home UV Purifier disinfects water with ultraviolet light as it enters your home, with no chemicals added. UV treats bacteria and other microorganisms; it does not remove iron, sulfur or hardness. That is why it is usually paired with the Dual Tank, which also clears the water so the UV light can do its job.
Tell us what you're seeing: the smell, the stains, a test result. A few questions is usually enough to point to the right system.

Questions
Well water FAQs
Can one system fix both the smell and the iron?
Usually, yes. Our Dual Tank well water system uses Katalox Light media for iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide, plus a separate softening tank for hardness. Those are the problems most wells in North Texas show up with.
Do I need a UV purifier?
Add UV if a lab test shows bacteria in your well, or if you want a layer of protection on water that no utility is treating. UV disinfects; it does not filter. It goes after the Dual Tank, so the water is already clear when it reaches the light.
How much does a well water system cost?
It depends on what is in your water and how your well and plumbing are set up, so we don't publish one number for wells. Call us or send the form, tell us what you're seeing, and we'll walk you through the right system and the price for your home.
Is installation included?
Yes. Installation is free on our whole-home systems, and they carry a lifetime warranty on the tanks, ceramic discs and dry parts. The full terms are on our warranty page.
What about my drinking water?
The Dual Tank treats the whole house. If you also want reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink for drinking and cooking, our HW800 AlkaPro tankless RO system pairs with it.
